Cruise's mission was to create affordable, accessible transportation to connect people to the things they care about. Using a fleet of upgraded Chevy Bolts, Cruise offered driverless Ride services on the streets of San Francisco, and Delivery services in partnership with Walmart in Phoenix.

I led the Consumer design team (25 designers, prototypers, and program managers), who designed the Ride end-to-end customer journey, mobile app, and in-car experiences; the Delivery mobile and vehicle interactions; custom hardware and sensors; and customer service experiences and operator tools.

The hardest challenge to solve was making pickups and dropoffs frictionless, despite the difficulties of safety, public perception, and modeling great AV behaviors.

Before Cruise ended service in 2023, it operated a large fleet in San Francisco with publicly-available rides, and grocery deliveries with Walmart in Phoenix.
